Itinerary.
Day 1: First Day of the Arrival.
Upon your arrival, your tour guide will be waiting to welcome you at Kigali International Airport and show you around the city. You will visit Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, Kimironko market and other places. You will have lunch and later in the afternoon, depart Kigali and transfer to Ruhengeri town arriving in the evening. Have dinner and stay overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, five Volcanoes Lodge and Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Day.
After breakfast, we take a short drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk about gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to where the gorillas were seen the night before and track from that point. The trekking can take from 1 to 6 hours. Although the hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film are recommended. It can rain at a few minutes notice, hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including waterproof bags for cameras and film.
Day 3: Canopy Walk & Chimpanzee Tracking.
Enjoying early breakfast is done, briefing before entering the forest is held, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees in Nyungwe are not easy to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your hotel for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk at Uwinka, a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will return to the hotel for dinner as above.
Day 4: Last Day of 4 Days Rwanda Tour.
After breakfast , the tour guide will come for you at the lodge and will transfer you back to Kigali for a city tour if time allows and drive you direct to the airport for departure flight.
