6 Days Rwanda Safari Tour summarises many tourist attractions including gorilla trekking, iby’iwacu cultural tour, golden monkey tracking, Dian Fossey hike and finally Kigali city tour.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali International Airport to Volcanoes national park
According to your choice we able to either pick you from the Airport or from your Hotel by one of our team members. At first, you meet and greet as he carefully transports you. To properly utilize the time he drives to Gisozi genocide site which takes a few minutes from Kigali city and the local markets. Later head to Volcanoes national park in Musanze province. It’s advisable to arrive on time due to the check-ins for the necessary documents such as gorilla trekking permit and passport for the non- nationals before entering the park.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Iby’iwacu Cultural Village
For the next day (Day 2), early in the morning with your waterproof backpack head to the headquarters. It’s necessary to pack a camera, lunch box, and a bottle of mineral water. The period for trekking gorillas depends on their location. Travelers are given one magical hour to spend with a gorilla family on this remarkable tour. The tour seems to be strenuous but it’s simply due to the ranger guide who is experienced with the location of these endangered giant species and path to use. Some of the gorilla families include Susa and Hirwa family.
After the long day of trekking gorillas, head to Iby’iwacu village for a local cultural experience with Rwanda people. During the event, visitors are given time to learn as they dance and sing. The village entertains travelers as they imitate the king’s palace in Nyanza province. Among the travelers, few are chosen to become the king and queen of the day as guards surround them.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking then Visit twin lakes
Golden monkeys are uniquely identified by the yellow color patches on their back and their nostrils face upwards not like other primates. Golden monkey trekking is done as early as 7:00 am in Virunga volcanoes. They jump on the different bamboo trees and the common ones are the Sabinyo. Later in the afternoon enjoy the cool breeze at twin lakes (Ruhondo and Burera). The lava Damm lakes are interconnected where one magically pours water in the other thus a remarkable adventure. Return to your hotel, have dinner and rest for the next day.
Day 4: Dian Fossey Tomb Hike and Lake Kivu
On this fourth day in the morning, you hike the Dian Fossey tomb at Karisoke research center. This scientist was buried near her best gorilla friend. Have a chance to learn more about Fossey, how the research was conducted on gorillas. Have lunch and get ready to transfer to Gisenyi for Lake Kivu tour. Relax along the lake shores as you take pictures of the green environment and the ridges of coffee and bananas. Engage in different sport games such as kayaking, swimming or in local activities like pounding the local coffee. Return to your hotel or have dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel.
Day 5: Boat cruise.
Early in the morning have breakfast at hotel or lodge and later get ready for boat cruising on Lake Kivu. The freshwaters attract many tourists to spend their time on lake shores as the sunbath. The boat cruise will take you to several islands such as Nyamurundi Island where Arabica coffee is widely planted. Have time to associate with the farmers to take you through coffee processing. Farmers are friendly and feel free to ask questions. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel (Luxury).
Day 6: Departure
Have a heavy breakfast at the lodge and later be transferred to the Airport. have a tour of Kigali city, genocide memorial site, and the national museum. The tour is brief in order to catch up with the plane back to your home country. Later have lunch at some of the best hotels in Kigali city.
